K is 39 months and J is 18 months.
We didn't have a theme this week, but I did change the contents of their tot trays.
One of their trays had our counting bears and cups set on it. These are a hit with both boys. K likes to sort them by color, and J just has a blast putting them in the cups, dumping them out, and stacking the cups together.
J got these stacking cubes in his stocking for Christmas, but they have been pretty much ignored. So I put them away for a while and then introduced them on a tot tray this week, and they got a ton of play time! This is one of the reasons I love tot trays. K stacked them, counted them, told me what the pattern was, etc.
Another tot tray held our colored Sequence for Kids game chips and a container with a hole in the top. K combined these with the stacking cups and sorted all the green chips into our green stackers.
Here is J putting the Sequence chips into a container (that originally held Gerber Puffs).
Our game of the week was Candy Land Castle. J mostly likes to put the shapes into the castle over and over, but with a little bit of encouragement he correctly matched some to the shapes on the gingerbread man!
We had to do some Dr. Suess activities this week, of course. I was glad to see that 2 Teaching Mommies had a Dr. Suess unit with lots of great activities! One thing we used from their unit was the Animal Mix Up activity. They could match the heads to the bodies, or mix them up to make silly animals!
We also used their Ten Apples Up on Top counting activity. As you can see, even my 6 year-old liked this one! K really liked it, too - his counting and number identification has really improved lately. Since this activity was way beyond little J, I also put an empty milk jug on this tray, and J enjoyed putting the clothespins into the jug.
In honor of Read Across America, we did a lot of reading! We read every Dr. Suess book we own and took full advantage of the library this week. :)
Out and About
My oldest son had a minimum day at school this week, so we took an afternoon outing to the zoo! Here are all three of my boys looking at some fish.
I adore this picture of J peeking through the hole of the kangaroo cut-out. Doesn't he make an adorable kangaroo?:)

Looks like you had a fun week! We love the counting bears too.
What a great week! :-)
Fun week! Love hearing about other moms using the library, too. We have tons of books and I really never went when Princess was little, but we LOVE it now! I can't believe what we missed out on back then!
Great week!! Love the chips in the puffs container activity! Kerri
Looks like you all had a great week! Thanks so much for the link to the Dr. Seuss unit, I didn't do too much this year and really want to do more next year.
Thanks for sharing. My son just turned one and I am learning to save all kinds of things (like Puff containers) because they can be useful.
