K is 34 months and J is 13 months.
We still did some apple themed stuff this week, like the Apple Tree Handprint craft. We read the book Ten Red Apples and did a felt board activity to go along with it.
I got out the zip ties I picked up at Dollar Tree and we made shapes with them (Chasing Marcus has a lot of good ideas of ways to use zip ties).
I let K stick toothpicks into an empty egg carton. I knew he would like this and it's a great fine motor skill activity. I'm thinking in the future I might write numbers on the bottom and ask him to stick the same number of toothpicks into that spot.
K did some do-a-dot art. The do-a-dots are always a hit. I'm so glad I bought them, even though they seemed a bit pricey to me . . .they are worth it!
Favorite game of the week: Old McDonald Had a Farm game (which I got for $2 at a thrift store - I love a good bargain!) You have to match mommy animal sounds to baby animal sounds. It's great for preschoolers.
I made a roll and count game using apple themed stickers. I originally got the idea for this type of game from The Activity Mom.
Baby J enjoyed playing with his large wooden puzzles. These puzzles with large wooden knobs are perfect for his age. In this picture he is enjoying the sound they make when he bangs them together. :)
J also liked putting round plastic chips from our Sequence game into an old Gerber puff container. He liked putting them in and then shaking the container. I had to watch him closely, though, because he did try to eat them a few times.
We took a field trip to Apple Hill! The boys got to pick their own apples, go through a hay maze, see some farm animals, feed the fish at a little pond, eat yummy treats like kettle corn, and much more. It was a very fun (and yummy) day!
See what other moms & tots are doing at 1+1+1=1.

Your apple trip sounded like it was a fun filled day! Now what are you going to do with all those apples you picked?
I love the idea of putting the toothpicks in the egg container. :)
Lots of fun! Love the toothpick activity. And thanks for reminding me that I own that farm game. LOL
I love the idea with the zip ties! You can do color, shapes, #'s etc. Great idea.
