K has a fascination with keys. Any time he finds a key, he immediately runs to the door to see if he can get it to fit inside. Because of this, I have been wanting to try this activity for a while. But, I didn't have any locks lying around and didn't want to spend a lot of money on them. Then, one day I saw some at the Dollar Tree! I was so excited and picked up 2 (different sizes).
I gave K the locks and keys and he figured out which key matched which locked pretty easily (based on size). Then he entertained himself for a while unlocking and locking them over again. I am going to be on the lookout for different sized/colored locks and keys to make it more challenging for him. So simple, but he really enjoyed it and it's a great fine motor skill activity!
